Our 3rd visit to this stunning course, enlarged to a full 18 holes in 1922 by James Braid, and redesigned to its present layout in 1936 by another golfing architectural genius, Harry Colt.

Set out in the North Downs, this spectacular 164 acre site is deemed a site of “Special Scientific Interest.’ It is a naturalist’s heaven, being home to pines, oak, rowan, birch, ferns, and heather - its many residents include deer, badger, sand lizards and adders. As with all those enjoying the course, the latter two are bound by the club’s strict rules of etiquette and rarely bite.

James Bond aficionados will also know the final Skyfall scene in the ‘Scottish Highlands’ was filmed here. It’s open and widespread appearance has likened the course to ‘where seaside links golf meets inland heathland golf.’ A great course.

• After play return to the clubhouse for a 3 course Carvery lunch & prizegiving
