Hankley Common
After a break of 3 years, we return to this wonderful course situated on the North Downs in a preservation area deemed a ‘site of Special Scientific Interest.’ With its relatively wide open & windswept appearance, it is often referred to as where seaside links golf meets inland heathland golf. The heather, when you’re not in it, is stunning.
9 holes were opened in 1897, a further 9 added in 1922 by James Braid, & remodelled in 1936 under the watchful eye of the brilliant Harry Colt. It currently sits no.29 in the Top100 golf courses in England, & no.70 in the Top100 in the UK & Ireland. The spaciousness of the layout affords stunning views across the course – all Skyfall fans will know the final scenes in the “Scottish Highlands” were filmed here.
For a bit of fun, & by way of a change, the traditional bacon rolls will be replaced by a full English breakfast on arrival. After your first shot on the first, the phrase ‘Titleist 4….provisional’ always sounds better when uttered on a full stomach.
