We now return yet again (our 8th appearance over the years) to wonderful Woburn, where in 2012 all 3 courses were ranked in the UK & Ireland Top 100 by Golf Monthly, the first 54 hole club ever to have done so.

After meeting in our usual spot, the Poulter room, we play the Duchess, opened in 1978 (2 years after the Duke’s) & thought by many to be the younger sibling of the 3. The Duchess did not take this tag lightly – it is a super course in its own right & now thought by many to be the best of the 3. It staged the Ford Ladies Classic for many years (with Laura Davies amongst its winners) as well as the Seniors Open & English Amateur Championships.

Without fail, the food at Woburn is excellent. After our 2 course lunch, we play the Marquess, where we played last year just a week after the British Ladies Open Championship. The course, naturally, was in superb condition & a firm favourite with all our players,
The Marquess opened in 2000 but soon became Woburn’s ‘jewel in the crown’ with its rolling & undulating terrain containing pine, spruce, sweet chestnut & oak trees. It has regularly hosted the British Masters, &, since 2014, is one of only 4 courses in the country to stage Final Qualifying for the Open Championship.
