Woburn
(Marquess & Duchess)
Our 5th visit to this wonderful club that has hosted over 60 professional tournaments, & was the first 54 hole venue to have all 3 courses ranked in Golf Monthly’s Top100 golf courses in the UK & Ireland.
In the morning we play the Marquess, opened in 2000 but soon referred to as the ‘jewel in the crown.’ This stunning course of rolling & undulating terrain, is surrounded by pine, spruce, sweet chestnut & oak. Between 2014 & 2017, it was one of only 4 courses in the country to stage Final Qualifying for the Open. It has hosted 4 British Masters events, & in 2016 & 2019, staged the Women’s British Open Championship.
In the afternoon we play the Duchess that is shorter……but trickier, & offering a completely different golfing challenge. Its narrower fairways & approaches to greens on this beautiful course, demands as much respect as its near neighbours.
The practice facilities at Woburn are first class, & the club itself is just a 10 minute drive from the M1 (J13). At every single event we have had here at Woburn, the staff have been fantastic both on & off the course. In short, another wonderful day in prospect.
PLEASE NOTE – WOBURN HAS A FLEET OF 2 SEATER BUGGIES FOR HIRE.
